Without a Davie St.bikeway what is the plan for delivery drivers on e-scooters on sidewalks?
Meeting Date:
Transportation, Public Space and Street Use Update
I have another follow-up question related to active transportation.
It was mentioned around Davie Village and sidewalk widening, and we're hearing a lot from folks in the community, particularly elderly that are very concerned. I think there's a lot of delivery drivers riding e-scooters and because there isn't a lot of cycling infrastructure on Davie Street, the sidewalks are used quite regularly by speeding e-scooters. And I'm just wondering about our plans to mitigate the risks to the public, particularly with the expanded network recently announced and also widening of the sidewalks might actually incentivize more use by e-scooter riders on the sidewalks on Davie Street. Are there any plans to improve cycling network safety between Arbutus and UBC?

... there was mention of sort of the Mobi expansion to UBC, and given that the termination of the Broadway subway will be at Arbutus and Broadway, are there any plans to improve the safety network, the transportation network between Arbutus and UBC, but mostly Arbutus and Alma as far as cycling infrastructure? We are hearing quite a bit from the public when it comes to, I think what we would normally categorize as uncomfortable interactions between cyclists and vehicles because there's a lot of blind spots.
And of course, with the terminus for the subway being right at Arbutus, likely people will get on a Mobi to get to UBC. If a bus is not the preferred option, what's our plans there to make sure that route is safe? Happy to have a response later as I'm seeing no.
